My name is Hein Pragt, I live in Veenendaal and have been working in ICT since 1980, until 1999 mostly as Embedded developer and hardware developer. I am a programmer but also have an electrical engineering background and I worked for many years as head of an R&D department. From my work in data communication, I had been working on the Internet since 1990 and in 2000 I made the switch from Embedded developer to Internet developer, simply because at that time it generated at least one and a half times as much. But I have always continued to develop hardware and Embedded software, with real microprocessors and later also the MCUs such as the Atmega (Arduino), Wemos and STM32 boards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the past I started with the Z80 processor and built a lot of equipment with this processor and wrote a lot of code, mostly in assembler. Then I switched to the 8052 processor, which I also used in many modem equipment and I wrote for this processor in assembler, PL\/M and ‘C’. After that we switched to the 80186 processor and I also programmed for the 6809 and 6811 processors. Developing hardware and then writing software for it was a great challenge for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 2000 I am still busy with electronics and programming in my spare time, over the years I have built up a very extensive stock of chips and other electronic parts, but I noticed more and more that the old retro chips were hardly available anymore . And the online stores that still sold the special chips asked quite a lot of money for them. Then the idea for this webshop was born and I hope to have a connecting factor for all people who are still working with retro computer electronics and are looking for electronic components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I try to stay out of the “commercial” market, I certainly don’t want to compete with the modern electronics webshops, but I also have some more modern components in my webshop, simply because they are often used in combination with the old retro components. I certainly have a profit motive, I also have my costs and I would like to earn them back and also make some profit to be able to make new purchases again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As I already indicated, I draw a lot from my own stock, built up over many years, but I also regularly buy old batches that have been in a warehouse for years or from people who stop with their hobby. In addition, I am sometimes offered old electronic items when a hobby room needs to be emptied after a death. It’s nice that these things don’t end up in a landfill but can really be used again.
