Description
In 1984 Yamaha introduced the YM2203, also known as OPN a sound chip based on FM Operator technology. Is has a six channel (3 FM and 3 SSG) sound channels and this chip was used in all kinds of videogame and computer systems throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. Internally it was a variation of the Yamaha’s YM2149F SSG chip.
